The Bruins iced a pretty much AHL roster team against the Flyers, who had mostly an NHL roster and performed quite well. Although penalties really hurt the Bruins in finding any game rhythm at times.
As far as forwards trying to leave an impression, once again Jack Studnicka has made another case for himself included in some capacity in the NHL roster. He was driving the net, trying to create offense, and was very clearly showing he can play at this level. He scored the only goal, by going to the net and batting in a rebound. The Bruins brass has a tough decision on their hands on what to do with Studs.
Bottom line another game where the players trying to emerge to be seen really didn't make a huge case for themselves other than Studnicka. Also, the D core that is fighting to be the 6th man will be an interesting call. Clifton,Moore, and Zboril all played, and really not one truly elevated their play above the other. I would say Clifton has the edge based on his right shot and what he can bring nightly but I suspect it's going to be a bit fluid and will see both Zboril and Moore in the mix.
Bruin of the Game : Jeremy Swayman was excellent in this tilt. Making some stand-out saves and stopping a few breakaways. He faced 36 shots in total and was tracking pucks well and had solid positioning and rebound control. He has looked better than Ulmark in the preseason and for my money, deserves the start of the season game when the Bruins host the Dallas Stars. This young man's future looks bright from what I've seen so far.
